Nyibu Agom: The Sacred Lore of the Adi of Arunachal Pradesh

This paper analyses the sacred lores of the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh against the backdrop of relatively recent revivalist upsurge in the North East India. Broad theme on which the myths are based resolves around nature and human existence. Plants and trees, water, environmental elements, all play roles that have important consequences for humankind. Death, calamities, epidemics, diseases are explained through cultural logics. The documentation of this kind perceptibly contributes to the preservation of valuable traditional heritage.
